Boss, power napping saja lah!

Tags: , ,

I’ve talked about taking naps on weekends, but have you even heard of “power naps“? According to a Dr William Anthony from the USA, who wrote a book “The Art of Napping at Work” with his wife, sleeping on the job can actually be beneficial to both you and your boss! Well, of course not sleeping for 8 hours, but a short nap of about 20 minutes will help to increase alertness and overall productivity in all of us. And this energy spike can actually last several hours.

While this sounds like good news to many of us, I’m sure our bosses would not agree. :( They would think that we’re just being lazy instead. How many of you actually feel sleepy after lunch? It’s really strange but my eyelids will start to drop at about 3pm everyday, like some flag lowering ceremony: Negaraku~! :D So if we’re not allowed to take naps at our tables, how do you deal with the sleepiness? Some of my friends drink kopi (kopi doesn’t work on me), some will take a quick jalan to the photocopy machine or toilet break, but for me, I like to keep my mouth busy… by stuffing it with food! LOL! It can be simple Tic Tacs, chocolates or sour plums. Those can really wake me up!

What about you? How do you slay the sleep monster at work or in school?

Cat nap? I’d rather just sleep, ha!

How many of you take naps in the day (during weekends)? Come on, ‘fess up, I definitely do!

It has been raining this whole weekend, so what better to do than to hide in the room, watch a bit of tv, and fall asleep on that nice soft bed of yours? Some studies have said that taking short naps can actually help to revitalise a person even better during the day. But hey, any reason is a good reason! :D I’m not totally convinced that a short nap can get me energised as a short nap is never enough. The ultimate luxury in life is just to sleep as much as one can. Haha! After all, sleep is good for your body, right? Having enough sleep makes one clear and fresh the next day, gives your body time to regenerate cells, and for women, less eye bags! Hmm, I wonder if that’s why sleep is also termed as “beauty sleep” for women? Goodbye SKII!

I also have a friend who told me that he sleeps less than 5 hours a day as he believes sleeping is a waste of time. But if we do not get enough sleep, won’t we become even more sleepy the next day and less productive? Do you think we really need at least 8 hours of sleep a day? (If it were up to me, I’d make a universal rule for everyone to sleep at least 9 hours! Haha!)
