Royal Wedding – Happy Ending

Tags: ,

Earlier this week we invited you to our Yahoo! Answers Royal Wedding Week! As it comes to an end, we wanted to thank our whole community for telling their proposal stories and sharing their tips on planning a perfect wedding.

Today, after much discussion about the gown, the guests, the vows, and much more, the long-awaited nuptials finally happens. As the beautiful bride walks down the aisle to the choral anthem “I Was Glad” by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, the prince will soon be united with his princess in holy matrimony. Congrats to Prince William and Princess Kate!

In celebration of the royal wedding, we wanted to ask our community one more question. We’ll award 100 bonus points to the user with the best answer. Now that the couple are about to say “I do,” we want to know…

Question: What is the secret to a lifelong successful marriage?

If you want the latest details on the big event, please visit the Royal Wedding coverage of Yahoo!.

Where to say “I do”?

Tags: ,

Interesting news on The Star today which featured a couple exchanging marriage vows “underwater” in a hotel swimming pool in Petaling Jaya. Now while underwater marriages are not new to Malaysia, it’s the first time it was held in the city center! Usually such things are held at beach resorts, probably under the sea. As the bride commented that the swimming pool was freezing cold, we can now understand why other folks prefer to hold it in the warm sea waters. :D

(Many thanks to kedakai)

As the years go by, some traditions change while others remain. My cousins in Penang held their weddings complete with the requisite karaoke system. Whereas my cousins in Kota Kinabalu had the whole group of performers and even Kadazan dancers! I think that weddings are joyous occasions and it is perfectly normal to invite a huge group of family and friends to join in the festivities and happiness. But personally I draw the line when the wedding becomes the parents’ wedding instead! (o.O) You know… the scenario where the parents invite their friends and at the end you only recognise 50% of the guests as the rest are strangers? That’s just wrong. I think ideally, it would be nice to have a simple and quiet wedding. Where only close relatives and friends are there sharing in your joy. Perhaps at a nice sandy beach somewhere. Underwater? Well, we’ll see. ;)

What about you? How was your wedding like? What is your dream wedding? :D
